Archive for 'Newborn'
This is Jack.
He lives with his parents in a great part of Philly. Their house has a ton of great light and texture, and we made the most of it at his newborn shoot a few weeks ago. Jack was about 9 days old when we shot these. What else can I say? He took a darn good picture!

Jack’s turning into a pretty great air guitarist…

Looking forward to your 4-month shoot, Jack!
You may remember Zach & Laura from their wedding a year or two ago… I love celebrating with my wedding couples when they welcome a new family member. Little man “B” was born a few weeks before Christmas, and we spent some time taking these pictures shortly after…

Lots of Baby “B”‘s being born lately it seems! Brent & Ashley welcomed this little guy into the world a month or two ago, and these were taken when he was just a few days old. Congrats you two!
For some reason, as I was looking through all of the images and deciding which ones to blog, the black and white images were the ones that stood out to me the most this time, so they might be just a little over-represented below…

If you’re a long-time blog reader, you may remember Courtney & Blake from their wedding last year. That was a great day, but it wasn’t the end of the story. Skip ahead a year, and C&B have just welcomed their son into the world!

I sometimes struggle to come up with new things to write when I post pictures I’ve taken of my clients. How many times can you use the phrase “miracle of life” or “simply adorable”? But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the truth is that new babies are pretty incredible. They have eyeballs. Eyeballs. And tiny hands and fingers and ears and feet and hair, sometimes lots and lots of hair, like this tiny scoop of awesome that is baby “A.”
I got to photograph her when she was just a few days old. Here are some of my favorite pictures from that session.

You might think that photographing twins would be twice as difficult as doing a newborn shoot for just one baby. That’s what I thought, too… but I was wrong. Matt & Sarah asked me to take pictures of their beautiful new girls, and it’s amazing how different two babies’ personality can be, despite looking exactly alike.
It was also powerful to see how they calmed each other down. If one or the other was agitated, as soon as we laid them down next to each other, they both settled down and — usually — dozed right off.
Enjoy these pictures, Matt & Sarah… it was great to meet your girls!
I put this first one in just because it makes me laugh.

A little over a year ago I shot Katie & Greg’s wedding at the Crystal Tea Room. What a fantastic day that was… I was hoping for a chance to work with K&G again, so I was really glad when they called me this summer to take pictures of their new daughter. She’d only been home from the hospital for a couple of days, and was a gem to photograph.

I normally don’t post pictures from my shoots until all of the images are finished, but in this case I’m going to make an exception. Recently friends of ours had twin baby girls… this is just the first picture I processed from their session. (Everybody now: Awwwwww!)

It’s such a joy for me to post these pictures, since there’s a back story to them.
About a year ago, I received a call from an organization I work with called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, which provides remembrance photography to families who have lost a child, and learned for the first time of Brian and Amy. While Amy was pregnant with their second daughter, Kelsey, they learned that Kelsey’s heart had stopped beating. Kelsey was born later that day, and I briefly took some photographs while Brian and Amy and their family spent a few precious hours with their tiny, beautiful daughter. (This story is shared with permission, by the way.)
What an exciting moment it was when I heard from Brian earlier this year. They were expecting again, and asked me to photograph their new son when he arrived. Baby “E” entered the world a few weeks ago, and I’m so happy to be posting these pictures of him and his family!

Who can deny that babies like “T” are, quite simply, awesome? They’re also a ton of fun to photograph, especially when they’re this expressive! I took these pictures in Philadelphia a few weeks ago… “T” may not appreciate these for a few years yet, but one of the things I love about this type of photography is how much they’ll mean to him when he’s older, and sees how much his mom has loved him from Day One.
