A few hours ago, we returned from a week away. Away at a lake. A lake where, for seven brief days, we enjoyed time with good friends, and of course, with our kids.
We watched art projects take shape, rock-skipping skills develop. We observed as books were devoured, and hamburgers, too.
We saw displays of courage: Yes, I will jump in the cold water. By myself. We saw kids being kind to other kids. We saw glimmers of who our daughters will be in adulthood.
We deserve none of this, but we are grateful.
