Bloggers get younger every year

Posted on March 22, 2008

My nephew Simeon lives with his ultra-cool parents in Boston. It’s always great when he visits, but I admit, I feel like I miss out on a lot since they’re only down a handful of times every year. So imagine my delight when I learned that, at just under a year old, he’s started a blog to keep those of us here in PA up to date.

Check it out.

Oh, and when he refers to Vienna, he’s talking about my daughter (who STILL hasn’t been born yet…check back in a week). :)

Here’s a quick shot of Simeon that I took over Thanksgiving…

Shooting Joy

Posted on March 17, 2008

First off, a happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone… Today I celebrated by having lunch with my friend Joy at the oh-so-delicious Iron Hill Brewery. Joy needed some new head shots for her website, so we walked around town and came away with some rad images.

It’s always a bit nerve-wracking shooting for another photographer, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. She got some of me as well (my bio pic in need of updating too) and I expect she’ll have them on her blog before too long. Check it out!

In other news, Kelly and I waiting with baited breath for our daughter’s arrival! Apparently that whole story about the stork dropping the kid off at your doorstep is a bit of a myth (who knew?), so if you send an email sometime in the next week or two and I don’t reply for a day or so, it’s because we’re at the hospital. I promise to post pictures as soon as I have some. :)

More than just weddings

Posted on March 10, 2008

I absolutely love shooting weddings: the beauty, the excitement, the moments, the adrenaline… they constantly challenge me to be a better photographer, and I love delivering the images to my clients, knowing that they’re going to be blown away by the images. Weddings are the heart of my business, and I doubt that will ever change.

But what happens after the wedding? There is a whole lifetime of amazing moments ahead, and images of those moments are just as important as the photograph taken when you say “I do.” That’s why I’m happy to present a new part of Ryan Estes Photography… portraits! Get rid of any ideas you may have of sitting under bright studio lights with a plain blue background behind you. I’m talking about amazing, dynamic images shot on location. Check it out the new website at www.ryanestesportraits.com!

In truth, I have always done portraits for people when asked, I just haven’t actively promoted them. But I’m excited about getting even more involved in this aspect of photography!
