Relationships can be messy

Kids. They are (or can be, anyway) so much fun to photograph, but rarely am I as tired when I come home from a shoot as when I’ve been chasing around an energetic 4 year-old. Today I actually had a relaxed kid shoot. Instead of being a standard portrait session, I was working on a project to illustrate the theme “Relationships can be messy.” (It’s a long story that has to do with marriage counseling.) Anyway, we were aiming to have Sam and Nadia playing around in the mud… they weren’t really into it, but we managed to pull off a couple of shots.

And here are a couple of others of Nadia I snapped that don’t really fit but I really liked anyway:

I absolutely adore the work you do, Ryan. I’ve been looking at your blog almost every day and especially love to see family photos. I have those photos in that packet you gave me hung up all over my room, “to make the heart grow fonder.” Thanks for the continual delights.
