8 things about me that you may not know
Posted on August 30, 2007
So I was tagged by Joy Moody, another local photographer, in one of these silly little pass-it-on games where you’re supposed to tell 8 random facts about yourself that people may not know. I figured I’d play along, since so many of my blog readers are people who know me for my work but not much else.
Here goes…
1. I’m the oldest of eight siblings. My youngest brother was born when I was a senior in high school. Growing up in a large family had its difficult moments, to be sure, but when we get together now it’s very cool.
2. I can’t stand the sight of blood. One time I was with Kelly at the hospital as she was getting blood drawn, and had to step out of the room. (Good one, Ryan… way to be there for her when she needs you.)
3. Mountains trump beaches. I don’t mind vacationing at the shore, but given the choice of direction to travel I will almost always choose north. I would love to visit Norway and/or Iceland. The biggest exception to that is that I’m dying to get to Italy as well, but that’s mainly because of the food.
4. I’m terrible at sports. And music. And most other things I’ve tried to do… photography is the first thing that I really felt good at, and I’m glad I found it or I’d be bad at just about everything! The good thing is that I live near Philadelphia, which means that I have a perfect excuse for not caring about sports (Philly has gone the longest of any major city without at least one major league sports team winning a championship). And this post is probably going to get me beat up the next time I head into the city.
5. I was homeschooled through the 6th grade, then entered public school. Let me tell you, junior high is not the ideal time to move to a new school, especially if you still haven’t hit a growth spurt and are roughly 2 1/2 feet tall.
6. My favorite kids’ books are, in no particular order, The Chronicles of Narnia, Frog and Toad are Friends, Where the Wild Things Are, and anything by Bill Peet. I also used to devour anything in The Three Investigators series, but honestly, that’s a little embarrassing.
7. I went to college and spent lots of money on a degree (video/television/radio) that I’m not currently using, and probably never will. That said, it was worth it and I’d repeat college again in a heartbeat.
8. The last country I visited was Haiti (as regular blog readers will know by now) to do documentary photography about a hospital and an orphanage there. (Images can be seen here.)
[EDIT: Okay, since posting this I have been tagged two more times, by David Zaveloff (from the Philadelphia area) and Jaco Fourie (from South Africa), both excellent photographers. You should go visit their blogs now.]
[EDIT #2: I’ve never been one of those people to pass along the chain letter, forward funny emails, or try to get friends involved in pyramid schemes, and so I didn’t tag anyone at all. Nevertheless, it’s come to my attention that there is at least one photographer out there who has not been tagged, so without further ado, I hereby tag Jennifer Childress.]

Yeah, I am glad you played along. Seems silly but I am so happy to know those additional things about you. Awesome weddings by the way, I am a little behind in stalking your blog.
